This day-by-day guide will help you build momentum, understand the Trinity System, and start tracking the habits that actually matter. **The Goal**: You already start with three active Trinity habits. By Day 7, you'll have personalized them, understood how each template type works, and seen real progress in your exercise, nutrition, and recovery journey. **Before You Start**: Take 2 minutes to set your timezone in **Settings → Profile**. This ensures Nutrition check-ins and Exercise logs happen on the correct day in YOUR timezone. --- ## Day 1: Meet & Personalize Your Three Starting Habits **Time Required**: 5-10 minutes ### You Already Have a Trinity You don't build your dashboard from scratch. Every new account is auto-provisioned with **three starting habits** at signup — one per Trinity pillar: - **🌅 Daily Affirmation** (Recovery) — a fresh expert-curated quote every morning - **💪 Exercise Routine** (Exercise) — a 4-week program to track workouts - **🥗 Nutrition Tracker** (Nutrition) — ongoing meal and macro logging Day 1 isn't about creating them. It's about making them yours. ### Your Day 1 Task: Personalize What You Can Of your three starting habits, **Daily Affirmation** is the one with a settings cog: 1. **Open the Daily Affirmation card** on your home screen 2. **Tap the settings cog (⚙)** in the card header 3. **Rename** it to match what you want from it ("Morning Reset") 4. **Pick a color** you'll recognize at a glance 5. **Choose a header image** that sets the tone Exercise and Nutrition have no settings cog. They're built to be used rather than configured, so day one for those two is simply opening them and logging something. **Pro Tip**: The Daily Affirmation habit is "set and forget" — open it each morning for a new quote. Exercise and Nutrition are where you'll actively check in. ### Want Recovery or Meditation? The starting three cover Affirmations, Exercise, and Nutrition. If your focus is **sobriety, a digital detox, or another recovery goal**, add an **Adaptable Challenge Tracker** from **+ New Habit** — it's a milestone tracker that counts automatically with no daily check-ins. **Meditation** is available there too (Member). ### What You'll Learn Today - What your three auto-created habits are and how each pillar works - How to personalize a habit (name, color, start date) - How to add a Recovery or Meditation habit if you want one ### Evening Reflection Before bed tonight, answer this question: > **"Which Trinity pillar do I need most right now: Recovery, Exercise, or Nutrition?"** This will guide whether you add a Recovery or Meditation habit as the week goes on. --- ## Day 2: Understand Your Habit Type **Time Required**: 5 minutes ### Your Day 2 Task: Learn How Your Habit Works Different Trinity templates work in different ways. Today, let's understand what you actually need to DO with the habit you created. ### Based on What You Created: **If you created a Recovery habit (Adaptable Challenge Tracker)**: - ✅ **Good news**: Nothing to do today! Your milestone counter is already running automatically - 🎯 Check your habit card to see your current milestone count - 📅 Your next celebration milestone will be at 7, 14, 30, or 90 days - **No daily logging needed** - Recovery habits track in the background **If you created an Exercise habit (1-Week Flexible)**: - 💪 Log a workout today if it's one of your scheduled workout days - If today isn't a workout day, just review your weekly schedule - When you DO work out: Tap "Log Workout" and record type, duration, how you felt - **Time commitment**: 2-3 minutes per workout day **If you created a Nutrition habit (1-Week Check-in Cycle)**: - 🥗 If today is Sunday: Complete "Sunday Planning" phase (set 2-3 goals for the week) - If today is NOT Sunday: Your cycle hasn't started yet - shows "Begins on Sunday" - **Phases have grace windows**: Sunday Planning is open Sunday through Wednesday (3-day grace), Wednesday Check is open Wednesday and Thursday (1-day grace), Saturday Reflect opens Saturday and stays open into the following days - **Time commitment**: 5-10 minutes per phase, completed any time inside its window **Key Insight**: Trinity templates have DIFFERENT rhythms. Recovery = always-on (no logging), Exercise = your schedule (log on workout days), Nutrition = weekly phases (log on specific days only). This reduces pressure and increases sustainability! ### Set Up Reminders (Optional - For Exercise/Nutrition Only) If you created an Exercise or Nutrition habit, go to **Settings → Notifications** and enable: - **Workout reminders** (for Exercise habits) - on your scheduled workout days - **Phase reminders** (for Nutrition habits) - Sunday morning, Wednesday noon, Saturday evening **Recovery habits don't need reminders** - they count automatically! ### What You'll Learn Today - How Recovery habits work differently (milestone tracking, no daily logging) - How Exercise habits follow YOUR workout schedule - How Nutrition habits use weekly phases (not daily logging) - Why different tracking methods reduce burnout ### Evening Check-In **Recovery habit**: Is your milestone counter showing 2+ days? If yes, it's working! 🎉 **Exercise habit**: Did you log a workout if today was a workout day? **Nutrition habit**: Did you complete Sunday Planning if today was Sunday? --- ## Day 3: Round Out Your Trinity — Add Recovery or Meditation **Time Required**: 10 minutes ### Your Day 3 Task: Add What's Missing Your starting three cover Affirmations, Exercise, and Nutrition. The two pillars *not* auto-created are the ones worth adding deliberately: a **Recovery milestone** tracker and **Meditation**. Add either from **+ New Habit**. ### Choose Your Path **Option A: Add a Recovery Milestone Tracker** (recommended for Week 1) Add an **Adaptable Challenge Tracker**: - **Best for**: Tracking sobriety, a digital detox, or any recovery goal - **How it works**: Set a start date (can be in the past), no daily check-ins — the milestone counter runs automatically - **Celebrations**: 7, 14, 30, 90, 365 days and beyond **Option B: Add Meditation** (Member) - **Best for**: Building a daily mindfulness practice - **How it works**: Log sessions with guided instructions and a before/after mood check-in **Trinity Balance Tip**: You don't have to add anything today. Your three starting habits are enough on their own. Add Recovery or Meditation only when it matches a goal you actually have — quality over quantity. ### Why Add Deliberately? Research shows that keeping **2-3 active habits** is the sweet spot; more than that and success rates drop. You already have three. Adding a fourth (Recovery or Meditation) should be a deliberate choice tied to a real goal, not a checkbox. ### What You'll Learn Today - Which pillars are auto-created vs. added by you - How Recovery milestone tracking works (no daily logging) - How to keep your habit load sustainable ### Evening Reflection If you added a habit today, how does it feel to track a fourth thing? If it's too much, **pause it** and focus on your starting three. **There's no shame in simplifying.** --- ## Day 4: Explore Your Dashboard **Time Required**: 5 minutes ### Your Day 4 Task: Dashboard Tour You've been logging for 3 days. Now let's explore what all the dashboard features mean. ### Complete This Scavenger Hunt 1. **Find your morning greeting** → What does it say today? 2. **Check your sprint status** → What day are you on? 3. **View your affirmation** → Who is the quote from? 4. **Open habit details** → Click **[Details]** on any habit card 5. **Check your streak** → How many days in a row? 🔥 ### Explore Habit Details When you click **[Details]** on a habit, you'll see: - **Weekly chart** - Visual of your completion rate - **Streak history** - When did you complete this habit? - **Notes** - Any reflections you added - **Edit button** - Modify habit settings **Charts Unlock at Day 7**: Some charts require 7 days of data to show trends. Check back on Day 7 for full visualizations! ### What You'll Learn Today - How to read habit details and charts - What sprint status means - How affirmations work - Where to find your data ### Action Item Add a **note** to one of today's habit logs. Example: > "Slept 8 hours but woke up groggy. Maybe too much screen time before bed?" Notes help you spot patterns over time. --- ## Day 5: Complete Your First Check-ins or Logs **Time Required**: 5-10 minutes ### Your Day 5 Task: Engage with Your Templates You've been observing for 4 days. Now let's actively engage with whichever templates you chose. ### Based on What You Created: **If you have a Recovery habit (Adaptable Challenge Tracker)**: - ✅ Check your milestone counter - how many days are you at? (should show 5+ days) - 🎉 If you're at 7 days, you'll see your first celebration milestone! - 🧘 Reflect: How does it feel to have 5+ days of recovery progress? - **No action needed** - it's counting automatically in the background! **If you have an Exercise habit (1-Week/2-Week/4-Week Program)**: - 💪 Log a workout today if it's a scheduled workout day - Record: type (cardio/strength/flexibility), duration, and how you felt - 📊 Check your weekly progress: Are you on track for your weekly workout goal? - View your program progress: Week 1/1, Week 1/2, or Week 1/4 **If you have a Nutrition habit (Check-in Cycle)**: - 🥗 If you created it mid-week: Still waiting for Sunday to start your first cycle - 📝 If you started on Sunday and today is Wednesday: Complete "Wednesday Energy Check" - Answer: Energy level this week (1-5), progress on Sunday goals (1-5), any adjustments needed - 🗓️ Remember: Phases have grace windows. Wednesday Check is available Wednesday and Thursday (1-day grace). **Different Rhythms**: Recovery is always-on (counts in background), Exercise follows YOUR schedule (log on workout days), Nutrition follows weekly phases (log on specific days only). All three work together for Trinity balance without daily logging burnout! ### What You'll Learn Today - How each template type has its own tracking rhythm - Why Recovery doesn't need daily logging (milestone-based) - How to complete Exercise workout logs - How Nutrition phases use multi-day grace windows (Sun–Wed, Wed–Thu, Sat onward) ### Evening Reflection How does it feel to track differently for each pillar? Does the lower pressure (no daily logging for everything) feel sustainable? **Remember**: Clear Mornings is built for the long game. Sustainable > intense. Recovery habits give you progress without effort, Exercise follows your schedule, Nutrition uses weekly check-ins instead of daily calorie counting. --- ## Day 6: Explore Voice Logging (Nutrition) **Time Required**: 5 minutes ### Your Day 6 Task: Try Voice Logging If you have a **Nutrition habit** active (or want to try one), today we'll test **voice logging** for meals. ### How Voice Logging Works 1. **Tap the microphone icon** in the nutrition section 2. **Speak your meal**: "I had two eggs, bacon, and whole wheat toast" 3. **Speech recognition transcribes and parses** your speech 4. **Review the food items** automatically extracted 5. **Confirm or edit** the log **Example**: > You say: "Grilled chicken breast, brown rice, and steamed broccoli" > System logs: > - Grilled chicken breast (200g) - 42g protein > - Brown rice (150g) - 4g protein > - Steamed broccoli (100g) - 3g protein > > Total: 49g protein **Voice Logging**: Free users get 1 voice log per day (and unlimited manual logging). Member raises that to 100 voice logs a day. ### Alternative: Manual Nutrition Logging If you're on the free tier, try **manual logging**: 1. Go to **Nutrition** → **+ Log Meal** 2. Search for foods in our 1.1M food database 3. Select portion sizes 4. Save the meal ### What You'll Learn Today - How to log nutrition efficiently - How voice logging saves time - How Clear Mornings tracks protein ### Pro Tip: Protein Goal Most people need **0.7-1g of protein per pound of body weight** for muscle maintenance. If you weigh 150 lbs, aim for 105-150g protein daily. Set a nutrition habit for your protein goal! --- ## Day 7: Review Your First Week **Time Required**: 10 minutes ### Your Day 7 Task: Weekly Reflection Congratulations! You've completed **7 days** of habit tracking. Let's review your progress and plan Week 2. ### Check Your Stats Go to **Progress** → **Weekly Summary** and look at: 1. **Completion rate** - Did you hit 100% on any habits? 2. **Streak status** - Are you at 7 days? 🔥 3. **Trinity balance** - Are you tracking all three categories? 4. **Insights** - What patterns do you notice? ### Weekly Reflection Questions Answer these in your journal (or in **Notes**): 1. **What was easier than expected?** - Example: "Logging sleep was effortless with my morning coffee trigger" 2. **What was harder than expected?** - Example: "I forgot to log on Day 3 and almost broke my streak" 3. **What surprised you?** - Example: "I thought I slept 8 hours most nights, but I'm averaging 6.5 hours" 4. **What will you change in Week 2?** - Example: "I'll add a bedtime routine habit to improve sleep quality" **The 7-Day Milestone**: Most people quit new habits by Day 7. You didn't. That puts you in the top 25% of habit trackers. Seriously—be proud of this. 🎉 ### Plan Your Week 2 Based on your reflection, choose ONE of these Week 2 goals: **Option A: Deepen Existing Habits** - Keep the same 2 habits - Add notes/reflections daily - Try backfilling if you miss a day **Option B: Add Recovery or Meditation** - Your starting three already cover Affirmations, Exercise, and Nutrition - Add an Adaptable Challenge Tracker (sobriety, digital detox) or Meditation if a real goal calls for it **Option C: Level Up Difficulty** - Increase your goal (e.g., 7 hours → 8 hours of sleep) - Change tracking mode (simple → counted) - Add a sub-habit (e.g., "Read 10 pages before bed") ### What You'll Learn Today - How to review weekly progress - How to identify patterns in your data - How to adjust habits based on real feedback --- ## Week 1 Complete: What's Next? ### Your Week 1 Achievements - ✅ Personalized your three starting Trinity habits - ✅ Built logging consistency (2-7 day streak!) - ✅ Added Recovery or Meditation if it fit your goals - ✅ Explored the dashboard features - ✅ Started a 21-day Morning Sprint - ✅ Tried voice or manual nutrition logging - ✅ Reviewed your first week of data ### Week 2 Preview In Week 2, you'll focus on: - **Days 8-14**: Momentum phase (habits feel easier) - **Trinity completion**: Add your third habit if ready - **Advanced features**: Custom affirmation generators - **Social proof**: Share your progress (optional) ### Common Week 2 Pitfalls (and How to Avoid Them) **Pitfall 1: Overconfidence** - "I've got this, I can add 5 more habits now!" - ❌ **Don't do this.** Stick to 2-3 habits until Day 21. **Pitfall 2: Perfectionism** - "I missed one day, I'm a failure, I'll quit." - ❌ **Don't do this.** One missed day ≠ failure. Log today and continue. **Pitfall 3: Data Obsession** - "Let me check my stats 10 times a day..." - ❌ **Don't do this.** Check once daily (morning or evening). Trust the process. **The Week 2 Dip**: Many users feel a motivation drop around Day 8-10. This is NORMAL. The novelty has worn off, but the habit isn't automatic yet. Push through. Day 14 feels better. --- ## Resources for Week 2 ### Must-Read Guides - **[Trinity System Overview](/kb/getting-started/welcome-to-clear-morning)** - Deep dive into Recovery, Exercise, Nutrition - **[Habit Templates](/kb/habits/habit-templates)** - Explore all 6 pre-built templates - **[Protein Tracking Guide](/kb/nutrition/protein-tracking-tips)** - Master nutrition logging ### Optional Features to Explore - **Custom Affirmation Generators** (Member) - Curate your own daily quotes - **Workout Logging** - Track exercises beyond habits - **Progress Charts** - Weekly/monthly visualizations ### Community Support - **[Community Forum](https://community.clearmornings.com)** - Connect with other users - **[FAQ](/faq)** - Common questions answered - **[Troubleshooting](/kb/troubleshooting)** - Fix issues fast --- ## Your Week 1 Checklist Before moving to Week 2, make sure you've completed: - [ ] Logged at least 5 days of your Recovery habit - [ ] Created a second habit (Exercise or Nutrition) - [ ] Started a 21-day Morning Sprint - [ ] Explored your dashboard and habit details - [ ] Set up a logging trigger/reminder - [ ] Tried voice or manual nutrition logging - [ ] Completed your Week 1 reflection ### If You Missed Any Items That's okay!
