We're excited to have you here. Clear Mornings is built on a simple but powerful philosophy: **Recovery first**. In a world that glorifies "hustle culture" and constant productivity, we believe that sustainable wellness starts with one question: *Did you recover well today?* ## Why Recovery First? Most fitness and wellness apps start with exercise or nutrition. We start with recovery because: - **Sleep drives everything** - Your workout quality, food choices, and mental clarity all depend on rest - **Recovery enables progress** - You don't get stronger during workouts; you get stronger during recovery - **Sustainability beats intensity** - A well-rested body can train consistently for years, not just weeks **The Clear Mornings Difference**: We measure success by how you feel in the morning, not how exhausted you are at night. A "good day" is one where you wake up refreshed and ready. ## What is the Trinity System? Clear Mornings organizes your wellness journey around three interconnected elements, each with specific weight based on recovery science: ### 🎯 Recovery (40% weight) Your foundation. This includes: - **Sobriety and clean living** (alcohol moderation/abstinence, substance-free lifestyle) - **Digital detox** (screen time limits, social media breaks, tech-free mornings) - **Sleep quality** (the #1 driver of performance and recovery) ### 💪 Exercise (30% weight) Movement that strengthens your body: - **Cardiovascular training** (running, cycling, swimming) - **Strength training** (weights, bodyweight, resistance bands) - **Flexibility and mobility** (yoga, stretching, foam rolling) - **Sport-specific training** (whatever you love to do!) ### 🥗 Nutrition (30% weight) Fuel that supports your goals: - **Protein tracking** (muscle recovery and growth) - **Voice food logging** (speak to log meals with speech recognition) - **Meal logging** (awareness and accountability) - **Hydration** (water intake throughout the day) - **Micronutrients** (vitamins, minerals, supplements) **The Trinity Philosophy**: These three elements work together with Recovery weighted at 40% because research shows sleep is the #1 driver of performance. Without adequate sleep, muscle repair drops 30-40% and athletic performance degrades significantly. Great nutrition without sleep fails. Hard training without recovery breaks down. All three in balance? That's when transformation happens. ## How Clear Mornings Works ### 1. Your Trinity Habits Are Ready You don't build your dashboard from scratch. Every new account is auto-provisioned with **three starting habits** — one for each side of the Trinity — the moment you sign up: - **🌅 Daily Affirmation** (Recovery) - Personalized quotes from expert authors, every morning - **💪 Exercise Routine** (Exercise) - A 4-week program to track workouts and build consistency - **🥗 Nutrition Tracker** (Nutrition) - Ongoing meal and macro logging Your job on day one isn't to create these — it's to **personalize** them (rename, recolor, set a start date) and start tracking. See [Customize Your Starting Habits](/kb/habits/create-your-first-habit) for the walkthrough. Want a **Recovery milestone** tracker (sobriety, digital detox) or **Meditation**? Those aren't part of the starting three — add either one anytime from **+ New Habit** on the Home page. ### 2. Track Your Way Each habit type works differently: - **Recovery habits** - Milestone tracking (set start date, counts automatically, no daily check-ins needed) - **Exercise habits** - Check in on workout days, log performance - **Nutrition habits** - Weekly check-in phases with grace windows: Sunday Planning is available Sun through Wed (3-day grace), Wednesday Check is available Wed–Thu (1-day grace), and Saturday Reflect is available Sat into the following days ### 3. Get Expert-Curated Affirmations Every day, receive personalized quotes: - **Habit-specific affirmations** - Matched to your recovery/exercise/nutrition goals - **Personal generators** - Create custom collections with your favorite authors - **Phase-aware content** - Quotes adapt as you progress from beginner to expert ### 4. Celebrate Milestones Watch your progress with smart celebrations: - **Recovery milestones** - 7, 30, 90, 365 days and beyond - **Exercise completions** - Weekly goals and finished programs - **Nutrition reflections** - Trinity impact scores and weekly wins ## Where to Start Ready to begin? Your habits already exist — here's your simple day-one path: ### Step 1: Personalize Your Daily Affirmation Habit (2 minutes) Of your three starting habits, **Daily Affirmation** is the one with a settings cog (⚙) in its header. Open it and make it yours: - **Rename** it to match what you want from it ("Morning Reset") - **Pick a color** you'll recognize at a glance - **Choose a header image** that sets the tone Exercise Routine and Nutrition Tracker have no cog: those two open straight into tracking, and there's nothing to configure before you start using them. Meditation and the Recovery milestone tracker also carry a cog if you add them later. **Want Recovery front and center?** Add an **Adaptable Challenge Tracker** habit (sobriety, digital detox, or a custom challenge) from **+ New Habit** — it's the Recovery milestone tracker that isn't auto-created for you. Just activate it and the counter starts automatically, no daily logging. ### Step 2: Start Tracking (30 seconds) - **Daily Affirmation**: Open it each morning for a fresh expert-curated quote - **Exercise**: Check in after each workout on your scheduled days - **Nutrition**: Log meals as you go; weekly check-in phases are day-specific (your first "Sunday Planning" phase opens on Sunday) ### Step 3: Explore Features (optional) - Set up your **Profile** (timezone, units, preferences) - Create an **Affirmation Generator** (personalized daily quotes) - Use **Voice Logging** for nutrition (speak to log meals) - Track **protein intake** with our scanner and food database ## Clear Mornings vs. Other Apps | Feature | Clear Mornings | Other Apps | |---------|---------------|------------| | **Primary Focus** | Recovery first | Exercise or weight loss | | **Philosophy** | Sustainable wellness | "No pain, no gain" | | **Program Structure** | 1-4 week structured programs | Infinite daily habits | | **Affirmations** | Expert-curated, context-aware | Generic quotes | | **Nutrition** | Weekly check-ins + voice logging | Daily calorie counting | | **Recovery Tracking** | Milestone-based sobriety/detox | No recovery focus | ## Understanding Program Lengths Each Trinity pillar uses different time frames: **🎯 Recovery (Milestone Tracking):** - No end date - track indefinitely - Celebrate at 7, 30, 90, 180, 365 days - Goal: Long-term lifestyle change **💪 Exercise (1-4 Week Programs):** - 1 week = Quick momentum builder - 2 weeks = Structured habit formation - 4 weeks = Serious transformation with phases **🥗 Nutrition (Weekly Check-in Cycles):** - 1 week = Single cycle (Plan → Check → Reflect) - 2 weeks = Mastery approach with iteration **Important**: Nutrition phases have grace windows, not hard day-locks. Sunday Planning is available Sunday through Wednesday (3-day grace). Wednesday Check is available Wednesday and Thursday (1-day grace). Saturday Reflect opens Saturday and stays available into Sunday and the start of the following week. If you miss a window entirely, wait for the next cycle. **Important**: Programs are designed to be **achievable**. Missed a check-in? No judgment. The goal is sustainable progress, not perfection. ### What Happens After Completion? The habit marks itself **complete**, and it stays on your dashboard. Nothing disappears. Where you go next is up to you: 1. **Run the program again** (build on your success) 2. **Level up** (try the next difficulty) 3. **Keep it as an ongoing pillar** (most people do) 4. **Start a new Trinity habit** (balance your pillars) ## Mobile-First Design Clear Mornings is built for **mobile-first use**: - Fast tap targets (44px minimum) - One-handed navigation - Quick logging (< 10 seconds per habit) - Offline-capable (log without internet) - Dark mode (easy on your eyes) **Pro Tip**: Add Clear Mornings to your phone's home screen for app-like experience. Those are now simply **Free** and **Member** — Member includes everything the old top tier did. See [Subscription & Billing Help](/kb/troubleshooting/subscription-billing). **Coaching on Clear Mornings?** If you train clients, there's a separate set of **Trainer** plans and a whole guide for coaches — start with [Becoming a Coach](/kb/for-trainers/becoming-a-coach).
