Progressive overload

Raise a client's loads from the sets they logged.

Marcus logs the weight and reps of each set on his phone, with last session's numbers beside the rows. He finishes every set and takes the last one past the 135 lb Sarah prescribed. When she builds his next session the deadlift is marked Lifted 140, and next Thursday starts at 140 unless she moves it back to 135.

What actually happened

1

Marcus logged each set on his phone

The deadlift opened into three rows filled in at 135 lb for 8 reps, with 135 × 8, 8, 7 from his last session beside the heading. He checked two sets as written and stepped the third up to 140.

2

The Studio marked what he lifted

Every set was done and the heaviest went above the 135 Sarah prescribed, so the movement carried a green Lifted 140 mark when she built his next session. One heavy set with the others left unchecked does not earn the mark.

3

Sarah started next week from his number

The Primary step opened Start from on his 140 lb, with her 135 lb beside it. She tapped Use this · 140 lb, and the row went into next Thursday at 140 lb.

Progression

See what your client lifted, and build next week from it.

Your client logs each set on their phone, with last session's numbers beside them. When they finish every set and go heavier than you prescribed, the exercise is marked Lifted 140 in your Studio, and you can start the next workout from 140 lb.

Frequently asked questions

What does my client log?

The weight and reps of each set. Each exercise opens into one row per set, filled in with what you prescribed. They change a number when they lifted something different, check each set as they finish it, and can add a set at the bottom.

When does an exercise get the Lifted mark?

When every set was done and the heaviest one went above the top of your prescription. The mark names the most recent session where that happened. A client who did every set as written reads Logged with their sets and carries no mark.

Does the app change my prescription on its own?

The Studio leaves a row you wrote at your number until you tap Use client's 140 lb on it. When you build their next session, a lift they beat starts from their number, and yours sits beside it under Start from. In a delivered program, upcoming sessions are raised when the client's log supports it, and every change lands in an Auto-progressed card on their page with Keep and Put it back. A load is never lowered that way.

Can I log sets for a client I train in person?

Yes. Open their day on your own phone and you get the same set rows they do. Each set records who entered it, so a set you logged carries a dot on its number and your client sees it counted as logged by their coach.

What happens when I left the load open?

A dumbbell, barbell, cable, kettlebell or machine movement delivered with no load reads No weight set, and each weight box reads Add lb until someone enters a number. Once the client has done the movement before, the rows start from what they did last time.

Does it work in kilograms?

Yes. On a kg canvas the mark prints the nearest plate load, so 140 lb reads 62.5 kg, and that is the load written into the row.
